John is an ORMTA registered instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience. His students’ average RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) exam mark is 80% – 90%. A number of students have been gold medal recipients from the RCM. They have been winners at local, national and international festivals and competitions such as the Kiwanis Music Festival, Canadian Music Competition and the Crescendo Competition. A number of students have gone on to make their debuts at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Canada’s NAC among other notable venues.

John tailors his lessons to each student’s needs and keeps it engaging. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, you are sure to enjoy your piano lessons with John. The studio, Piano Place, is located in Russell. Virtual and In-person lessons are available.

Having an extensive international performance experience has given him the ability to teach his students not only the art of piano playing but also the art of performance; How to communicate with the audience musically, how to perform freely and confidently, how to have a strong stage presence, and many more.

He also offer jazz and pop lessons – teaching his students how to read and form chords (simple and complex) and also learn how to improvise. Theory lessons (beginner – advanced) are also offered to all students.

His studio consists of students from the age of 4 to retired seniors. He makes it a point to be relatable to his students and build rapport with them.
